Tour Of A Nubian Village

The “LIFE ON THE NILE” exhibit shows the way of life in a traditional Nubian village. This village is now benefiting from humanitarian projects supported by Nile Valley Herbs and the Mother Maryam Foundation.  Take a tour of the village.

"LIFE ON THE NILE" EXHIBIT AVAILABLE

man standing in gatewayThis village is featured in a free-standing exhibit of photographs and artifacts, entitled "Life on the Nile." Using beautiful color photographs, texts, examples of ceremonial clothing, basketry, and traditional medicines, the exhibit transports viewers to the Nubian village of Kolomiseed (Az-Zawrat) in northern Sudan. It appeals to elementary, middle, and high school viewers as well as adults.

This exhibit was produced under the sponsorship of the Texas Council for the Humanities, the Center for Middle Eastern Studies at The University of Texas at Austin, and the Junior League of Austin. It is available in free-standing format only. It includes a total of 20 free-standing panels, measuring 31" wide x 41" high, which attach by keyhole plates to wooden poles to form a display that stands 72" high.
